Quality Assurance Analyst
Digital Sandbox, McLean, VA

Since 1998, Digital Sandbox, Inc. has been a leading provider of risk-optimized solutions for homeland security and natural hazard preparedness.  As a quality assurance analyst at our firm, you will run Digital Sandbox, Inc’s internal quality program and developing solutions for our clients at the intersection of risk management and homeland security. We are focused on projects that support national, state, and local efforts to counter the threat of terrorism.

We are seeking an experienced quality assurance analyst with a strong track record in applying quality assurance practices at a major firm. Experience in the business consulting practice of a major firm in the areas of strategy or risk management would be a major plus.   The position requires 3-8 years of successful quality assurance experience.  This opportunity will provide challenging and analytically interesting work in a rapidly growing field.  We offer autonomy in a flexible work environment with an entrepreneurial culture.  If this sounds like the right role for you, we would like to discuss taking your career to a new level.

Specific Responsibilities:

Validation

• Review and analyze user stories
• Write a mix of automated and manual Acceptance tests to validate application compliance with its user story-based requirements
• Collaborate with the programming staff to derive detailed test specifications
• Apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate product through testing
• Execute Acceptance tests
• Evaluate and verify test results
• Investigate and log defects
• Write Test Reports

Quality Assurance

• Identify and recommend improvements/changes to enhance the effectiveness of Digital Sandbox, Inc’s QA processes
• Schedule and lead quality reviews at prescribed points in the process
• Track and report status to management on action items arising from quality reviews
• Update and expand process documentation

Required Qualifications:

• 3 to 8 years of successful, quality assurance experience as a consultant to business, government, or with a software development firm
• Ability to run SQL Queries
• Programming experience
• Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Knowledge and understanding of testing strategies and methodologies
• Experience with or willingness to learn Extreme Programming
• Excellent analysis and trouble-shooting skills
• Must be resourceful and a flexible self-starter, capable of producing quality work with minimal supervision
• Must be able to manage multiple priorities and demonstrate the ability to work with diverse groups of people

Desired Qualifications: (preferred, but not required)

• Ability to work independently with guidance from Development Team Lead
• Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with peers and management.
• Shows the ability to deliver quality documentation in a timely manner, consistent with QA standards and project plans.
• Ability to meet specified deadlines and work within a short project cycle.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to assimilate and apply new information and develop in-depth knowledge of the system being tested
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with or willingness to learn Bugzilla, Twiki, FitNesse, Watir, Ruby and other open source testing tools
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
