Digital Sandbox Demonstrates Population Risk Analytics at TCIP

Software Generates Precise Picture of Population Risks and Allocation Modeling
Digital Sandbox, a leading provider of analytic risk management software and services, demonstrated its advanced population risk modeling software at the 2010 Technologies for Critical Incident Preparedness (TCIP) Conference. Jointly sponsored by DHS and DOJ, the conference took place in Philadelphia February 2 – 4, highlighting tools and technologies available to the emergency first-responder community.
The Digital Sandbox software showcased at TCIP is part of the company’s flagship Risk Analysis Center (RAC) software and managed services suite, which allows decision makers to quantify and visualize critical infrastructure and population risks from all hazards. The RAC provides tools for managing risks to critical infrastructure, assessing capabilities, performing gap analysis, and optimizing resource allocation decisions. The population software demonstrated at TCIP uses authoritative data from the US Census Bureau and other sources, the company’s patented risk analysis processes and algorithms, and its proprietary Geographic Metric Engine to synthesize the population data into a coherent risk picture.
“This software gives first responders a depiction of population risks at unprecedented precision,” explained David Daniels, Chief Scientist at Digital Sandbox. “It can zoom down to the census block level, and account for day and night variations by factoring in population flux attributable to commuters and visitors.” Daniels explained that the Digital Sandbox software is allowing decision makers to perform segmentation analysis of hundreds of demographic variables, allowing them to assess scenarios such as pandemic vulnerability and vaccine distribution, natural hazards evacuation planning, and special events operation.
The 11th annual TCIP Conference and Exposition highlighted DOJ, DHS, and DoD technologies, RDT&E investments, and training tools currently available and being developed for the emergency responder community. It also provided a critical forum for emergency responders to discuss best practices and exchange information.
Digital Sandbox provides analytic software applications, services, and information products to government agencies and large enterprises, enabling them to optimize their strategic, policy, and budgetary decisions for risk-based resource allocation. Since 1998, Digital Sandbox’s analytic risk management solutions have helped customers in the National Security, Homeland Security, and Corporate Security fields to lower their risk exposure, increase the effectiveness of their risk management budgets, and maximize the return on their finite resources.
