Digital Sandbox RAC Software Platform First to Store PCII within DHS Guidelines
States, Urban Areas, and Fusion Centers can now implement the market-leading risk management system with the confidence of PCII Protection
Jan 21 2011
January, 2011, McLean, VA: Digital Sandbox, the leading provider of risk management software and services for the public safety community, announced that its Risk Analysis Center (RAC) software platform is now capable of storing PCII (Protected Critical Infrastructure Information) data using a process that has been accepted by the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) PCII Office. Driven by its customers’ need to integrate PCII into the RAC’s critical asset catalog database, Digital Sandbox has successfully demonstrated that the RAC can protect PCII information via internal controls, external notifications, and programmable access restrictions, within DHS specifications.
Digital Sandbox’s RAC is the only commercially-available risk management software application capable of storing and handling PCII according to the requirements and standards of DHS’s PCII Office. The RAC’s PCII implementation provides enhanced system security and user management functions, including required markings, disclaimers, banners and alerts, PCII tracking numbers, and the automated production of mandatory coversheets for RAC-generated reports that include PCII.
Recognizing that jurisdictions may choose to protect different types of information as PCII, Digital Sandbox engineered the RAC to implement a configurable approach to PCII marking while maintaining the necessary security requirements and processes dictated by the DHS PCII Office. Digital Sandbox can easily tailor the RAC to meet the needs of customers who wish to apply PCII protection to their data. “Integrating the ability for our customers to hold and mark their PCII appropriately has been a long-time goal of ours,” commented Robert Kerr, CTO of Digital Sandbox. “We’ve had to prove to our customers and DHS that their PCII, when held and processed by the RAC, is 100% secure. We’ve done that and more. Our customers now have complete confidence that any PCII in the RAC, or appearing in RAC reports, is clearly marked; only those with rights to view PCII can gain access to that data.”
