Digital Sandbox Awarded Subcontract to Develop Software to Improve Forecast Accuracy for IARPA

Jul 11 2011

5 July 2011, McLean, Virginia:  Digital Sandbox announced its participation in a new Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) project designed to develop advanced techniques that elicit and combine judgments of multiple intelligence experts to improve forecast accuracy.  IARPA, part of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), has established its Aggregative Contingent Estimation (ACE) program to enhance the accuracy, precision, and timeliness of forecasts of future events.  Digital Sandbox is one member of the Project INFORMED team, led by Jacobs Engineering Group Inc and established to achieve the ACE program’s goal of more accurate forecasts. Project INFORMED, commencing on May 25, 2011, has a one-year base period of performance and three one-year options.

The Digital Sandbox team will develop software that quickly and intuitively elicits information from multiple intelligence analysts, analyzes it, and presents the results to decision makers, through easily-digestible, simple interfaces.  Digital Sandbox’s experience in creating software that elicits and analyzes risk component information from subject matter experts makes it well-positioned to contribute similar expertise to the intelligence community.  “We’re thrilled to be part of this project,” stated Dr. David Daniels, Digital Sandbox’s Chief Scientist.  “We look forward to leveraging the technology we’ve developed for threat identification and analysis to create a more precise, accurate methodology of forecasting future events.”
