Risk Analyst, State & Local Programs

The State and Local Analyst ensures client success through successful project management and analytical support, while improving Digital Sandbox analytical tools and models, conducting analysis for the State and Local Team, managing internal projects, and providing products that are exemplary.

Specific Responsibilities:

Analysis:

  • Uses, updates, and creates analytic tools and models
  • Supports and conducts analysis, both formal and informal, quantitative and qualitative
  • Prepares deliverables such as data quality reviews, critical infrastructure reports, risk analyses, risk reports, risk briefs, capability assessments, and gap analyses
  • Identifies, collects, and manages data
  • Acts as liaison with other Digital Sandbox teams regarding analytical matters
  • Occasionally communicates with clients and partners about analytic and data matters

Project Management:
The Analyst will manage internal projects and occasionally some external projects.  When assigned a project to manage, the Analyst:

  • Sets up and manages a project plan, including a detailed budget
  • Solves problems that may arise and elevates problems to Director when they cannot be solved independently
  • Adjusts project plans over time to reflect the current state, while remaining on-time and on-budget
  • Communicates status of projects regularly to supervisor

Other:

  • Offers subject matter expertise in analytics and data
  • Keeps current on trends in analytics and data, especially as they relate to the work conducted by Digital Sandbox
  • Supports general client needs

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, graduate degree is preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years analytical experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years in a homeland security, public safety, risk management, or comparable field
  • A minimum of two (2) years project management experience
Skills:
  • Knowledge of quantitative concepts and standard analytical best practices
  • Knowledge of Federal Government and/or State and Local Government standards as related to public safety, homeland security, grants, policy, and general decision-making
  • Knowledge of basic research methods and techniques
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving confidential, difficult, and sensitive situations
  • Ability to train and provide direction to others
  • Ability to work effectively to meet demanding schedules and multiple timelines
  • Excellent computer and Internet proficiency including MS Office Suite (including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Effective professional communication skills (oral and written) with all levels of employees and clients
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Ability to obtain PCII Certification
  • Ability to travel

Desired Qualifications (preferred, but not required):

  • Graduate Degree in related field
  • Active government clearance
