Assess Needs and Risks

Supporting the first step in effective risk management, the RAC’s Assessment modules allow organizations to:sample risk exemplar

  1. Create an automated catalog of assets, threats and capabilities
  2. Understand their distribution of asset types and sectors
  3. Prioritize and model likely threats
  4. Define program and policy imperatives
  5. Scope, prioritize, and optimize resource allocation.

To support these functions, the RAC incorporates a comprehensive suite of software modules, threat and asset libraries, capabilities templates, and analyst services. It also features modules that allow customers to set up and maintain their own tailored asset, threat and capabilities catalogs.

Additional RAC applications allow users to:

  • manage assessment workflows
  • visualize asset and risk distribution, and
  • export data to other applications such as C/ACAMS and GIS systems.

Assessment Activities

Assessment activities consist of three steps, each supported by specialized software modules and analyst services.

  1. Catalog: Digital Sandbox creates a database of localized CIKR assets, threat profiles, and preparedness capabilities in the RAC
  2. Assess: Local subject matter experts,  Digital Sandbox thought leaders, and other outside authorities augment catalogs with risk-relevant details that help make policy decisions and determine trade-offs.
  3. Analyze: Quantitative modeling and decision tools in the RAC help evaluate and determine trade-offs between assets, sectors, and capabilities.
